After 10 years of planning and campaigning the government have decided to drop age veriication at the behest of the BBFC citing privacy issues. However the UK adult industry is not out of the ball park yet with the possibility of the Online Harms Bill possbly revisiting the option to mandate and enforce age verification on adult websites which was intended to protect minors from seeing inappropriate content online
Chris Ratcliff of TVX who has fought alongside companies in favour of age verification expressed his disappointment at a recent UKAP meeting with producers and services stating that "the decision to drop age verification has set the adult industry back from progressing forward" meaning that the latest decision could bring about much stricter controls of the industry from Ofcom which has not made its position clear on this issue as yet
