ManyVids the clip site platform for content creators has started a petition for all supporters of sex workers and content creators, performers and producers to sign in support of the government recognising sex workers as legitimate contributors to the coommunity in the same way as those who are self employed.
“ManyVids fights for women’s rights, gender equality, sex positivity and supports the LGBTQ+ community,” a company representative explains, "concerned users of the platform based in Montreal reached out for help and advice when they were refused bank loans to upgrade their equipment and software because their line of work was not recognised as a viable career.
The company went on to say that sex workers are helping to destress the public amid the Corona Virus Lockdown during these uncertain times.
“Since the outbreak, ManyVids has seen a 15 percent spike in video sales and a rise in the use of MV Live, which provides an integrated streaming service,” the rep notes. “Some savvy entrepreneurs are creating so much content, that they’re on track to earn up to £16K this month because of the lock down traffic.”
This is an importaant moment to support sex workers for those who are struggling to receive the same benefits as those who are self employed if only to see them through the difficult period ahead.
ManyVids’ petition, open only to UK residents, is available here.
